Today was Spit Island day. I found myself awakened by a knock at the door. It was light outside. Oops, I never heard my watch alarm. Must have needed the sleep. I had 15 minutes to get ready to go. No worries. I took a power bar and headed to the cart and off we all went to board the boat.
There is a reason they called the island Spit. It’s just a tiny islet. It’s a wet landing at Spit. If I wasn’t awake by the time we got there, I sure was after my feet and legs hit that water. 10 of us went to count and we had finished the by 9:30. A little time was left for beach combing and then we got back on the boat in time for a nice warm shower and lunch.
In the afternoon, John Klavitter, assistant manager, took us out for a boat ride and optional snorkel. I chose to stay in the boat along with 9 out of 15 other people. We went out to the old hotel area. There is a barrier reef that totally protected us from some pretty strong wave action. It was tons of fun.
Tonight’s entertainment was photos of Madagascar, Antarctica, and Baja. OK, now I know I want to do some more traveling. One of the replacement counters owns an ecotravel agency. Now I’m thinking about a trip to Galapagos. I had forgotten how much I enjoy going to new places.

I’m going to miss the adventure reading your blog. It has been incredible, can’t even imagine how it has been for you.
